To offer the hope of tomorrow

The 1st Conference of the Hellenic Society for the Study of Neoplasms was held with great success, with the central theme "Developments in immunotherapy and the targeted treatment of Malignant Solid Neoplasms".

An important goal, as emphasized by the President of the Society, Medical Oncologist Dr Apostolos Laskarakis, Director, Oncology Department, Iatriko, Athens, is to highlight the pace that will "give" our patients the hope of tomorrow and not the fear of yesterday.

Professor Ourania Nicolatou-Galitis, Scientific Responsible of CureCancer - mycancer.gr had the honor to participate as Chair at the Session "Supportive Care for Oncology Patients" together with the distinguished scientists, Dr X. Pittaros, Director of the Pathology Clinic and Director of the Medical Service, Medical Center of Athens, and Dr A. Stoupi, Infectious Pathologist, Director of the Department of Infections and Tropical Diseases of the Athens Medical Group, Lecturer at Brown University, USA.

Some of the excellent speakers were Doctors. A. Papanikolopoulou, specialist Pathologist, G.N.N.TH.A. "SOTIRIA", Z. Kontoulis, Interventional Pain Physician, Pain clinic, Athens Medical Center and A. Stoupis. They presented important topics such as the management of extravasation, the optimal management of analgesic treatment and the treatment of infections in the oncology patient.

One of the notable comments regarded the importance of the microbial load of the oral cavity and the importance of oral hygiene, as mentioned in a recent study.

We sincerely thank the President of the Conference Dr Apostolos Laskarakis and we wish him to continues organizing successful and constructive Conferences for the benefit of patients and to the most current scientific advances for the Doctors!
