Powerful Presence in Cancer Prevention

My warmest gratitude to the Hellenic Cancer Society - EAE and the Filothei Psychiko Branch, the President Mrs. Anastasia Lykouri Aggelaki and the Members of the Board of Directors for the honorary invitation to deliver a presentation concerning the oral care during and after cancer treatment, 8.04.2021. Special thanks to the President of EAE Dr. Evangelos Filopoulos, who performs important and wonderful work on cancer education and prevention.

We especially thank the honorable Deputy Minister of Health Mrs. Zoe Rapti who honored, greeted and embraced the event. The Deputy Minister is very active in important areas of Health, such as Mental Health and Cancer. One of the first, vital needs of cancer patients is the psychological support of themselves and their family.

The support of the Mayor of Filothei Psychiko, Mr. Dimitrios Galanis was truly special! He had researched and was informed about the significant impact of periodontal health on systemic health! Dear Mayor, thank you!

Dental cancer care, according to a recent announcement by the International Dental Federation, is an urgent need, especially today, with the recent anti-cancer treatments. The participation of properly trained dentists in the interdisciplinary team is extremely important and necessary in every phase of treatment. Oral care will help increase the success of anti-cancer therapy and maintain the quality of life of the person with cancer, reducing the incidence and severity of complications.

The cooperation and education of patients is crucial to the success of treatment. Patients are trained and encouraged to keep a clean and healthy mouth and are informed what to ask their doctor, what symptoms to report immediately, to receive medical help prior to symptoms deterioration, and how to help prevent any problems after treatment, so that they live "better and longer".
